Dr. Saranya Narayan M.DDr. Saranya Narayan M.D

Dr.Saranya Narayan, was born and brought up in Chennai. She did her MBBS (1982) and her MD (1985) in Microbiology from the Madras Medical College.

CO-FOUNDER & MEDICAL DIRECTOR

She began her career as a Microbiologist at Lister Laboratory (currently Lister Metropolis), Chennai and retired as Director, from Lister Metropolis in 2004. In 1995, she co-founded Jeevan Blood Bank and Research Centre, a not for profit Blood Centre in Chennai which has set several milestones in transfusion medicine in India. (www.jeevan.org).
She co-founded Healyst Laboratory, a diagnostic laboratory, in April 2017, the profits of which will go to Jeevan Stem Cell Foundation.

Dr. Saranya is a noted speaker on blood banking, cord blood banking, medical ethics and Microbiology  in conferences worldwide. She has also published several papers on these subjects.

She is a member of the Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists, International Leptospirosis Society, Indian Leptospirosis Society, Indian Society for Blood Transfusion & Immunohaematology, AIDS Society of India and the Indian Medical Association.

An avid reader, writer, music lover and cook, Dr. Saranya is also the author of a book “What’s up, Doc” published in July 2004.

Dr. Srinivasan Periathiruvadi MDDr. Srinivasan Periathiruvadi MD

Dr. Srinivasan Periathiruvadi MD was born in Tuticorin and after completing his schooling in Tuticorin, he joined the Kilpauk Medical College Chennai, in 1970. Having graduated with distinction, he did his Senior Residency at the Government General Hospital Chennai, and then joined the Madras Medical College for his MD in Internal Medicine. His long and illustrious medical career saw him serve as full-time Physician at C S I Rainy Hospital, Chennai, Senior Registrar in Internal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology at University Medical School, Aberdeen, Scotland UK. He was also a recipient of Commonwealth Foundation Fellowship in 1984.

A entrepreneur in health care industry, Dr. Srinivasan has successfully established and managed two premier institutions in the country. Lister Laboratory, now known as Lister Metropolis (a Medical Diagnostic Laboratory) from which he retired in 2006. In 1995, he co-founded Jeevan Blood Bank and Research Centre, a not for profit Blood Centre in Chennai which has set several milestones in transfusion medicine in India. (www.jeevan.org).

He is a member of several professional organisations.  He held several positions such as resource person for WHO (SEARO), NACO (Blood Safety), President Indian Society of Blood Transfusion and Immunohaematology (Tamil Nadu), Secretary, Association of British Scholars (ABS), Member, National Apex Committee for Stem Cell Research and Therapy, Ministry of Health, Government of India and Member, Drafting Committee for Regulating Cord Blood and other Stem Cell Banking, Ministry of Health, Government of India.

Dr.Srinivasan is a prominent speaker in his area of specialty and has published several articles in leading medical journals.

Currently, Dr.Srinivasan is promoting the need for Public Cord Blood banking and the need for a Public Stem Cell Bank in India. To help Indians across the world get quick and affordable access to matching stem cells for treatment of blood cancers and Thalassemia. His endeavors and the support of corporate sponsors, the Rotary and community at large, have helped Jeevan Stem Cell Bank become a reality.

Mr. M. Sivaraman Ramanathan, IAS (Rtd.)

Mr. M. Sivaraman Ramanathan, IAS (Rtd.) Served as Union Revenue Secretary, India. He holds a Post Graduate degree in Economics from University of Madras. Joining the I.A.S. cadre of Madhya Pradesh in 1962 he has worked in various departments in the state of Madhya Pradesh and the Central Government. With over 40 years of experience he has held important positions at various levels in the Department of Finance, Planning, Finance Commission, Economic Affairs and Ministry of Commerce and Finance. He has worked as Director General of Civil Aviation & Ex-Officio Additional Secretary of Government of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation & Revenue Secretary, Government of India, Ministry of Finance, New Delhi. He has also worked as Executive Director, International Monetary Fund and was an expert Adviser to the UN Security Council Committee to Counter Terrorism. Currently he is engaged in delivering lectures on Budget, Banking, Fiscal and Monetary policies.

Mr.Jayendra Panchapakesan

Mr. Jayendra Panchapakesan He started as a writer in advertising in 1978; turned ad-film maker in 1986. He has produced and directed over 600 ad-films for clients in India and overseas. He conceived and directed India’s first concert film Margazhi Raagam in 2008. Later, he co-scripted and directed the bilingual feature film 180 (produced by Sathyam Cinemas and Aghal Films). Jayendra is also committed to social work as a trustee of Bhoomika Trust, Mahesh Memorial Trust, Altius Foundation and Jeevan Blood Bank. He is also closely associated with The Banyan, Sankara Eye Hospital (in Coimbatore, India) and Child (a home for HIV-positive children in Chennai, India). Further, he conceived True Gifts, a Bhoomika Trust gifting initiative that brings satisfaction to the gift givers and receivers while benefitting the needy.
